A few weeks ago we braved a road trip with a 7 month old. The drive itself was great. We broke the trip up by stopping in Richmond to see one of my best friends from college. Tag slept like a champ the whole ride there. We arrived around 7pm and were able to visit with Cat and Bill and even grab a nice dinner out. We stayed in the guest room (all three of us), and Tag had his own pack n play to sleep in. This was by far the worst night we've all had together since Tag was born. He cries a LOT louder now at 7 months old than he did as a newborn! We ended up bringing him in bed with us which we've never done. Tag is a bed hog for sure, and because we were so afraid to wake him we both basically didn't sleep for trying to keep him asleep. Not that it helped much. He woke up probably every hour in a fit. Oh, and it was a full size bed, which would have been fine without a baby bed hog. This was night 1 of 3 like this. Needless to say this is how we came to be so determined about CIO.
We took off the next morning and headed for Philly, fully caffeinated. About 20 minutes outside of Baltimore we decided to take a break which meant waking our sleeping angel and grab lunch at the Aquarium. Smart move on our part. Tag stayed awake for 2-3 hours while we walked around and by the time we were leaving he was ready for another nap. We arrived in Philly just in time to have dinner before the conference began.
I love SGC conferences. They're so organized and you always get free books. The worship is always refreshing and wonderful and you always leave feeling more aware of the Gospel with respect to your life. At this conference I really became acutely aware that church planting is apart of the Great Commission. And, I left feeling confident that we're supposed to be apart of this church plant, and God has blessed us with amazing, Godly leaders to care for us.
Despite being unbelievably sleep deprived and super distracted by my nap-hatin' baby we were able to hear most all the services thanks to video feeds. I won't go into the nuances of nights in the hotel, except to say thankfully we did get a nice room with a king size bed!
All in all, I'd say our first road trip was great. What road trip doesn't include sleepless nights??
Here are a few of the more happy memories from this trip:

I know this is an awful picture, but tag's face is just so strange here?!

Tag checking out the jelly fish.
The Baltimore Aquarium doesn't let you have strollers. They make you take one of these snuggli things. Pretty great, even if your baby is a chunky thing!
